Solar PV (PhotoVoltaic) |
At Modern Energy Concepts (MEC) we approach the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) market from a different point of view than most solar companies. MEC's lighting background uniquely qualifies them to help conserve more energy before installing solar.
Most solar companies ask for 12 months utility bills. They then size the solar system using the number of kWh's your company used the previous 12 months MEC looks at the same data to determine size as well, but then we look at how to minimize your solar system through conservation. By installing LED or Fluorescent Induction lighting your lighting kWh's can be cut in half. This means a smaller solar system/less panels. Sometimes depending on your usage we can cut your solar system in half. We also look at your insulation, windows and HVAC units. We offer a power conditioning unit that can lower your electrical usage by 10 to 20%. All of this means less panels for you to purchase. We have consistently been providing smaller, more cost effective solar systems than our competitors. We eliminate the same percentage of your bill but are able to use less panels to do it! Just as with our solar thermal market approach we purchase solar PV panels, inverters and associated equipment directly from the manufacturer and sell it direct to you, eliminating contractor markups. We then aid you in getting 3 labor only bids from qualified contractors. Because of this approach we are always your lowest cost option for solar. On one project our bid came in at $3.9 million dollars, our nearest competitor came in at $5.2 million. They, of course, did not take into account that with the installation of more efficient lighting in the plant they could potentially use less panels. The lighting costs for this job were $150,000, replacing the lighting saved approximately $1.3 million in solar equipment. As you can see, for every $1 you spend on efficient lighting etc., you save approximately $10 on solar equipment.Call for a FREE site survey!
